LINCOLN, NE — Today, nearly 600 medical professionals from across the state released an open letter opposing Initiative 434 and supporting Initiative 439. The letter follows Governor Pillen’s offensive and propaganda-filled press conference on miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies in which he and state officials referred to one woman’s pregnancy loss story as “misinformation.”

PROTECT OUR RIGHTS RELEASES NEW TV AD: WATCHED

Today, Protect Our Rights, Initiative 439, released a new television ad titled WATCHED. The ad recounts the true, heartbreaking story of Kimberly Paseka, a wife and mother who, due to the restrictions in the current abortion ban, was forced to bleed at home as she awaited the inevitable end of a pregnancy. The current abortion ban and Initiative 434 do not provide exceptions for abortions in the cases of fatal fetal anomalies.

Today, Allie Berry, Campaign Manager of Protect Our Rights, Initiative 439 on the ballot, issued the following statement:
Lies, lies, and more lies. That’s the story of Initiative 434, also known as the Protect Women & Children. Today, we reluctantly filed a Cease & Desist letter to stop their irresponsible misinformation campaign that’s running in the state. During the petition process, Protect Women & Children misrepresented their measure to Nebraska voters and, as a result, received a record number of complaints to the Secretary of State.”

The ad, titled TWO VOTES, explains that Nebraskans can end the current abortion ban and restore control to families to make their own healthcare decisions with two votes— one vote against 434 and one vote for 439. The :30-second ad will run across the state on broadcast and cable.
